Adult Therapist

Shamta is an Occupational Therapist with a specialization in mental health. She obtained a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in Australia (La Trobe University) and completed a Master of Science (Occupational Therapy) at Tufts University, Massachusetts. Shamta has enjoyed working with clients from all ages of the lifespan: children, adolescents, and adults. Shamta has worked in various settings including community mental health clinics, mental health outreach programs, residential rehabilitation programs, inpatient mental health programs and provided therapy, case-management, and occupational therapy services during this time. She is passionate about providing a safe space for clients to feel heard and empowered, and providing therapeutic services that are trauma informed, strengths orientated and in alignment with clients’ recovery goals. Shamta commonly draws upon Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in her therapeutic approach, however, is flexible depending on the needs of the individual she is working with. Shamta is currently an active member in the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy program at Trilogy. Shamta endeavors to combine her skills as an Occupational Therapist and mental health clinician in the provision of therapeutic services. In her spare time, Shamta enjoys spending time with friends/family, cooking, photography, hiking and going to the beach.
