Kara L. Anderson is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist trained at Northwestern University’s Family Institute. In her work with individuals, family systems and diverse social structures, Kara focuses on creating a safe space for clients to explore the intense and richly rewarding dynamics of interpersonal relationships. Clients from all races, genders, cultures, religions, and sexual orientations are welcome in Kara’s practice. Working through a client-centered and trauma informed perspective, Kara works collaboratively towards a client’s goals, exploring and identifying effective ways to uncover the tools and strengths available to enhance the quality of daily functioning both personally and interpersonally. As a Family Therapist, level one Gottman trained, Kara has experience working with intimacy issues, navigating life stage transitions, and managing inter-generational conflict as well as processing racial trauma and injustice. Kara is an EMDR trained therapist and uses Adaptive Information Processing to facilitate understanding and integration of one’s lived experiences. Kara’s work with families routinely addresses trauma, interpersonal conflict, infidelity, strengthening the parent/child relationship, blended families and coping with loss or divorce.
